State of Maine CPA Exam

Holy freaking crap!! So I'm reading up on CPA stuff today and there is this company (Becker) that offers a study program/course for your CPA exam. It includes:

  1. Over 6,000 multiple choice questions which mirrors the exam interface. Each question links directly to the applicable pages in electronic textbooks and lectures.
  2. Over 200 task based simulations that mirror those found on the CPA exam.
  3. Two full final exams for each of the four parts of the CPA exam. These mirror the functionality and content of the actual CPA exam so you can become familiar with the Computer-Based Test environment.
  4. 100 hours of expert instruction where you learn from the best of the best subject matter specialists and exam experts. These hours are designed to help you pass the exam the first time.
  5. Comprehensive textbooks and e-Books that are easy to use and organized by topics tested on the CPA exam. Includes hundreds of past exam questions.
  6. Study road map tells you exactly what to study and how much time to devote to each topic.
  7. Interactive study planners helps in developing an optimum study plan for the CPA exam tailored to your study preferences.
  8. Unlimited academic support.

So this sounds amazing and I'm super interested in enrolling in this program or whatever it is. Until I see the price tag.

$3,245.00

I'm not sure how I feel about spending almost 4x the amount of the test on a study course for this exam. I guess time will tell and it will depend on how much spare cash we have lying around. The one upside is that the company offers guaranteed 0% financing for up to 18 months to pay for the course. So for a little less than $200 a month I could take this course and have a better chance of passing the exam. Then maybe I could resell it to recoup some / all of my costs.

Hopefully all this money I'm investing in myself pays off and I wind up with a job paying upwards of $100,000 a year.
